Our instructors are not held to a strict, traditional school calendar; instead, we offer courses as demand arises and you can choose which classes you’re available to teach. That gives our instructors the flexibility they need to get the work-life balance they deserve.
Earn By The Hour
Our instructors are paid $48 per hour for instruction time and $25 per hour for curriculum development. A typical class lasts 8–15 weeks and is held Monday–Thursdays. Instructors work 8–12 hours a week and are expected to participate in person on-site. The time commitment for Professional Development courses varies and typically ranges from 8–20 hours per course.

We’ll equip you with teaching materials like curriculum, books, instructions, and supplies. And you’ll be encouraged to add your unique perspective to the training. Where do the classes take place?
Classes are held in person at Career Tech Educational facilities, Angola Training Center, and Community Learning Centers, as well as on-site at business and industry in these Northeast Indiana counties: Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley.

Yes! We offer a flexible schedule in a classroom environment that provides an ideal fit for retirees. Our retired instructors enjoy the opportunity to share their expertise, earn extra income, and keep their skills sharp.
Who We Are
Freedom Academy is a private, non-profit organization. Since 1991, we have provided skill development training to students across Northeast Indiana. Instructors share their trade, talent, and experience to lead our programs in the classroom. Courses are demand-driven and do not follow a semester schedule. For student convenience, we provide training at local facilities such as Career Tech Ed (CTE) centers, the Angola Training Center, the Community Learning Center, and on-site at business and industry.
